Laylatul Qadr - The Night of Majesty
Indeed, We sent the Qur'an down during the Night of Majesty. And what can make you know what is the Night of Majesty? The Night of Majesty is better than a thousand months. The angels and the Spirit descend therein by permission of their Lord with His Decrees for every matter. Peace it is until the emergence of dawn. - Q97:1-5
Laylatul Qadr is one day, every year. The night will occur in one of the five odd nights of the last 10 nights of Ramadan. The exact time it will happen is a mystery. Praying on this night is better than praying for a thousand months.
“Verily I saw Lailatul Qadr, and I was caused to forget it, and indeed it is during the last ten (nights). It is during an odd night and I saw myself as if I were prostrating in mud and water.” - Muslim
A single night better than 1000 months deserves to be found and this can only be achieved by spending all ten nights in sincere worship. It is a night with intense spiritual atmosphere due to the higher than normal numbers of angels present on earth.
Aishah (RA) narrated: "Allah's Messenger (SAW) used to strive more in worship during the last 10 nights of Ramadan than he did during any other time" - Muslim
Aishah (RA) said: "I asked the Prophet (SAW): 'O Messenger of Allah! If I realize the Night of Majesty, what should I supplicate in it?'. He replied, 'You should supplicate:
"O Allah! You are the Most Forgiving, and You love forgiveness; so forgive me." - At-Tirmidhi
