#SunnahFriday - Ramadan Sympathy

The Prophet Muhammed (SAW) said: "Whoever feeds the person who is breaking his fast, he will have his reward (for his fasting) without decreasing anything from the reward of the fasting person.” - Tirmidhi

Ramadan is the month of sympathy. We are enjoined to give much in charity. It is said that during this month, The Prophet (SAW) gave so much in the way of charity, that no one who visited him to ask for something ever left empty handed.

During Ramadan, we get to experience what a lot of people experience year round: fatigue, hunger and thirst. During this period, there is no distinction between the rich and the poor, as it a mutual feeling. Hence, fasting helps us realize the pain a lot of people have to go through on a daily basis.

This should awaken everyone of us and open our hearts to give more in the way of charity. He who Allah has blessed should share his blessings with the less privileged. Ramadan should instill the sense of sympathy into our hearts that should make us want to give more.
